Art Exhibitions in an Old Tobacco Factory

In the year 1809, the enormous, spacious, and mysterious tobacco factory was established in the southeast sector of Madrid.  Known in Spanish as La Antigua Tabacalera, this old building covers 30,000 square feet of space in Madrid's most funky and eclectic barrio Lavapiés.

The tobacco factory retained its use until the late 20th century.  Little did the original creators know that later this building would convert into the perfect site for visual art.  Its 30,000 square feet is now put to artistic use as an exhibition space.  This artistic resource center is dedicated to the many rising multidisciplinary expressions of art in society today.  This old building gives new and young artists the opportunity to exhibit in the field of installation, performance, photography, and visual art.

Come discover La Antigua Tabacalera yourself on Calle Embajadores 53...
